My PlaydatePlanet partner, Meryl, and I have known each other basically forever, but it was in second grade that our BFF status was cemented.  My son just finished second grade, so it got me to thinking about his best friends and whether or not those friendships would turn out to be life-long like mine and Meryl’s.  He has two best buddies that he met in kindergarten.  He’s been in class with them every year since they started elementary school, and last week we were thrilled to find out that they will be together for third grade as well.  I consider those two boys and a third boy who my son attends an after-school program with to be his best friends.  I don’t have too many memories from growing up that didn’t include Meryl and I’m wondering if Tyler will have the same experience with this group of boys.  They are all great kids, so I would love for them to be friends for a long, long time.  What do you think?  Do you think your kids’ current best friendships will last?  Or do their close friends change from year to year?  And how about you?  Are you still friends with your BFF from second grade?
